Windshield Insurance & Deductible Calculator
Compare a windshield quote with your comprehensive deductible and see the simple out-of-pocket arithmetic under different coverage assumptions.
This calculator does not determine insurance coverage. Your policy, deductible, glass endorsement, insurer rules, claim status, OEM-glass provisions, calibration coverage, and other terms control what is actually paid.
Your deductible scenario
What this calculation assumes
- The amount left after your entered non-covered extras is eligible under the policy.
- The deductible you entered applies to this claim.
- No separate glass deductible, waiver, endorsement, limit, depreciation, reimbursement rule, or policy exception changes the result.
- The provider’s quote and insurer-approved amount are the same.
Questions to verify before relying on the numbers
- Does comprehensive coverage apply to this windshield loss?
- Is there a separate glass deductible or deductible waiver?
- Is ADAS calibration covered when required after replacement?
- Are OEM-glass differences covered, limited, or excluded?
- Can you choose the glass provider, and how does billing or reimbursement work?
- Does the insurer require an inspection, claim number, authorization, or specific documentation first?
Not included: This calculator does not estimate future premium changes, claim-history effects, eligibility, fault, reimbursement timing, or whether filing a claim is advantageous.
How the Windshield Deductible Math Works
A deductible is the amount you may be responsible for before covered claim payments apply. If a potentially covered windshield amount is lower than the applicable deductible, the simple arithmetic leaves no amount above that deductible. If it is higher, the amount above the deductible is the portion that could potentially be insurer-paid—subject to the actual policy and approved claim.
Why Coverage Can Differ From the Calculator
Glass claims can vary by policy, state, insurer, endorsement, deductible structure, provider billing arrangement, OEM-glass provisions, calibration requirements, and the insurer’s approved repair or replacement amount. That is why this tool separates arithmetic from coverage determination.
ADAS Calibration & Insurance
If a windshield-mounted camera requires calibration after replacement, ask whether the calibration is included in the provider quote and how your insurer treats that charge. If you are unsure whether calibration may be required, use the ADAS Calibration Checker.
OEM vs. Aftermarket Glass
If the quote changes depending on OEM-branded versus compatible aftermarket glass, ask the insurer and provider which amount is covered and what difference, if any, would remain your responsibility. Do not assume an OEM upgrade is automatically covered or excluded.
